Letter to Senate EPW Supporting Shailen Bhatt to Lead the FHWA

On behalf of the 400 members of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA), I am writing to share our support for Shailen Bhatt’s nomination to lead the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The work of this committee over the past years to craft and advance responsible surface transportation reauthorizations, which were incorporated as the base of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), has given FHWA a historic opportunity to improve our infrastructure that betters the lives of every American.

Comments on the DOE's RFI on Clean Energy Demonstrations on Current and Former Land Program

On behalf of the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA), I am pleased to submit the following comments in response to the Office of Clean Energy Demonstration’s (OCED) request for information (RFI) on the use of current and former mine lands to further the nation’s clean energy goals.  NSSGA is a trade association that represents crushed stone, sand, gravel (aggregate) and industrial sand producers, consisting of approximately 7,000 operations nationwide, and the manufacturing and service providers who serve the industry.

MSHA Assistant Secretary Tours First Aggregates Quarry

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The National Stone Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) organized a day-long tour for the Mine Safety & Health Administration’s (MSHA) Assistant Secretary, Chris Williamson along with seven other Department of Labor/MSHA staff at Luck Stone’s Bull Run facility in Virginia. This was the Assistant Secretary’s first tour of an aggregates quarry and his first mine tour since starting at MSHA. This was followed by the first NSSGA-MSHA Alliance working meeting.

 

Letter to House T&I Committee Supporting the Freight Rail Shipping Fair Market Act

On behalf of the members of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA), I am writing to share our strong support of the Freight Rail Shipping Fair Market Act. I thank the committee for their leadership in drafting this legislation that will improve shipping conditions, allowing America’s aggregates producers to move essential building materials and industrial sand to the market. NSSGA is the leading voice and advocate for the aggregates industry. It is no secret that rail service conditions are failing for the aggregates industry.

NSSGA Applauds Senate WRDA Passage

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs Michele Stanley issued the following statement after the Senate passed the 2022 Water Resources Development Act. Letter to Congress Leadership Supporting S.J. Res. 55

On behalf of the 400 members of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) I am writing to share our strong support for S.J. Res. 55, introduced by Senator Dan Sullivan (AK) and H.J. Res. 91, introduced by Representative Garrett Graves (LA), which would repeal onerous regulations that will make it harder to modernize our infrastructure. The White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) earlier this year issued a new regulation that complicates the permitting process for large infrastructure projects under the National Environmental Permitting Act (NEPA).

NSSGA Board Chair Karen Hubacz Discusses Inflation at House Transportation & Infrastructure Roundtable

ALEXANDRIA, VA – NSSGA Board Chair and President of Bond Construction Corp. Karen Hubacz spoke to the House Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) Committee today about the impact of inflation on the aggregates industry. The House T&I Committee Republicans this morning held a roundtable discussion on the “Inflation Crisis Impacts on Infrastructure,” hosted by Ranking Member Sam Graves (MO).

The National Sand, Stone and Gravel Association (“NSSGA”) appreciates the opportunity to provide this comment letter to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (the “SEC”) to respond to the SEC’s rulemaking proposal on The Enhancement and Standardization of Climate-Related Disclosures for Investors published in the Federal Register on April 11, 2022 (the “Proposed Rule”). NSSGA represents aggregates producers, as well as those who manufacture equipment and provide services that support the construction industry.
