The 34 national associations and trade unions of the Transportation Construction Coalition (TCC) applaud the bipartisan efforts of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee to reauthorize federal aviation programs and urge all members of the House of Representatives to support passage of H.R. 3935, the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act. H.R. 3935 would support increased airport capital improvements by raising Airport Improvement Program (AIP) investment levels for the first time in nearly 20 years.

Infrastructure investment spurs job creation and economic growth. To maximize this, the 34 organizations and labor unions of the Transportation Construction Coalition urge timely completion of Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 transportation appropriations at levels authorized in the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). The second year of the IIJA is underway, and real-world improvements to safety, commute times, and freight movement are being seen nationwide.

The Americans for Transportation Mobility (ATM) coalition and the Transportation Construction Coalition (TCC) opposes any and all efforts to undermine recent and historic infrastructure investments, including suspending federal and state motor fuel user fees, commonly known as “gas taxes.” American consumers are facing significant economic anxieties brought about by record inflation, continuing supply chain issues, high energy prices, labor shortages, and continued concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic.

Suspending the federal gasoline tax in the name of “economic relief” is misguided and could undermine the recently enacted and bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). The national associations and labor unions of the Transportation Construction Coalition (TCC) and the Americans for Transportation Mobility (ATM) coalition strongly oppose the S. 3609, the Gas Price Relief Act of 2022.

The transportation construction industry and its union partners build projects and sustain well-paying jobs that bring community and economic benefit to every corner of our nation. We share the commitment of the Congressional Progressive Caucus to building next-generation infrastructure that is designed to promote equal economic opportunity for all Americans.

The 33 national associations and labor unions of the Transportation Construction Coalition are writing to respond to a recent misleading fact sheet circulated by House Republican Leadership on the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. We disagree with the assertion that this bill is nothing more than a “Trojan Horse” to pass another measure. This legislation, on its own, would increase every state’s highway formula funding by an average of 35 percent.

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) provides a generational opportunity to invest in the nation’s highway, bridge, public transit, airport and other infrastructure programs. Transportation improvements connect people and communities, while yielding short and long-term improvements across the economy. The 33 national associations and labor unions that make up the Transportation Construction Coalition (TCC) urge all members to vote YES on final passage of the IIJA in the House.
