Transportation Construction Coalition Letter to House of Representatives on the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act, H.R. 3935
The 34 national associations and trade unions of the Transportation Construction Coalition (TCC) applaud the bipartisan efforts of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee to reauthorize federal aviation programs and urge all members of the House of Representatives to support passage of H.R. 3935, the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act. H.R. 3935 would support increased airport capital improvements by raising Airport Improvement Program (AIP) investment levels for the first time in nearly 20 years. The increase of $650 million per year will enhance airport facilities across the nation. We greatly appreciate the $25 billion in airport upgrades over five years included in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). These resources are helping facilitate improvements for airport terminals and runways across the country. While valuable, more investment is needed to handle the expected increase in passenger levels from 800 million in 2023 to 1.4 billion by 2043. The Airports Council International-North America estimates airports will need $151 billion from 2023 to 2027.
