Supreme Court WOTUS Ruling May Herald Faster Transportation Project Approvals

High Court Strikes Down EPA's Efforts to Expand Its Authority; ARTBA and NSSGA Partnered During Legal Battle

 

(WASHINGTON) — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) campaign to regulate all U.S. ditches hit another roadblock May 25. The U.S. Supreme Court today agreed with the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) and the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) that the agency exceeded its authority in developing new wetlands regulations.

 

NSSGA Concludes 2023 Young Leaders Annual Meeting

Fort Lauderdale, FL – The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association met in Fort Lauderdale, FL to convene the Young Leaders Annual Meeting. The meeting, held from April 23-26, attracted a record attendance of more than 325 participants, who heard from industry leaders; participated in networking activities; and welcomed their new Committee leadership.

NSSGA and Advocacy Associates Pick Up Reed Award for Best Lobby Day

LAS VEGAS – The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) and Advocacy Associates, a boutique advocacy scheduling firm, won Campaigns and Elections magazine’s prestigious Reed Award for “Best Lobby Day." The award recognized the outstanding work surrounding NSSGA’s 2022 lobby day, in which 250 advocates held 200 meetings with members of Congress and their staff. The honor reflects Advocacy Associates’ position as a leader in the field, as well as NSSGA’s innovative approach to connecting advocates with their legislators.

NSSGA Member Testifies on IIJA Implementation at House T&I Hearing

ALEXANDRIA, VA National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) member Dwayne Boyd, president of the Midsouth Region, CRH Americas served as a witness during the “Reviewing the Implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act” hearing, which was held by the House Transportation & Infrastructure (T&I) Highways and Transit Subcommittee. Boyd started out by thanking the Committee for their work in passing IIJA and emphasized the important advances that IIJA implementation provides for the aggregates industry. 

Seth Hankowski Accepts the 2023 Board Chair Gavel

LAS VEGAS – During the Annual Membership Meeting at the 2023 Annual Convention, the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) outgoing Chair Karen Hubacz, Bond Construction handed off the gavel to fellow Bay Stater, Seth Hankowski, All States Materials Group. 2023 Joint Annual Convention Comes Roaring Back to Vegas

LAS VEGAS – More than 1,100 industry leaders gather this week in Las Vegas for the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association’s (NSSGA) 2023 Joint Annual Convention. This event occurs every three years and includes collaborative programming with the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) and the Portland Cement Association (PCA).  The 2023 meeting theme of Building the Future Together, focuses on the unity among the industries and the shared policy issues.   

 

Manufacturing & Services Division Chair Passes the Gavel: 2022 M&S Chair Josh Swank Presents Gavel to Charlie Johnson During M&S Dinner

LAS VEGAS – On the first evening of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) 2023 Annual Convention, the Manufacturing & Services (M&S) Division announced their 2023 Executive Committee Chair at their annual dinner. Outgoing Chair Josh Swank of Philippi-Hagenbuch handed off the gavel to Charlie Johnson of DSC Dredge LLC. The M&S division also appointed Mark Krause of McLanahan Corporation, as the M&S Vice Chair.  

 

NSSGA Member Testifies at WOTUS Hearing

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Mark Williams, environmental manager at Luck Companies testified today in the hearing, “Stakeholder Perspectives on the Impacts of the Biden Administration’s Waters of the United States (WOTUS) Rule,” which was held by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment. 

Biden Administration Must Follow the Law and the Buy America Exclusion

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) President and CEO Michael Johnson issued the following statement on the industry’s bipartisan Buy America exclusion that was issued as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act legislation.
